Obligation to have a green pass on board local public transport

From December 6, 2021 all public transport passengers who are 12 years and older must present a Green Pass that is valid in the EU and has a verifiable QR code. Valid Green Passes can be obtained by uploading either proof of vaccination, proof of a Covid-19 infection within the last 6 months, a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before the activity starts, or a negative antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before the activity starts to the Green Pass or Covid Certificate apps.
In accordance with art. 4 of Decree-Law 25 March 2020, no. 19, to violators will be applied the respective civil penalty from 400 to 1000 euros, which could be increased by a third since the violation takes place inside a vehicle.
Spot checks will be carried out by the local police forces on the basis of a plan prepared by the relevant Prefectures. Controls could be carried out also by the company’s staff or by appointed external staff under the coordination of the Prefectures.
